Top Of Utah Marathon.

So it's done! 26.2 miles! I never thought this day would be here. Friday we got up and made our way to Utah. It was just us three couples, Brandon and Jenny, Travis and September, and me and Jared. We all drove in Brandon and Jenny's car so we could split gas money. Of course we spent the whole drive talking (instead of sleeping...what we really needed) but it is always fun to visit when we are all together. Anyway September got all of us the cutest silver pendant necklaces that we engraved on the back with 26.2 and the date. It was the sweetest gift...she always thinks to do really sweet things like that. We got in pretty late so we just ate and went to the motel to get ready for bed. We probably got to bed by 11:30, but I was so nervous I didn't sleep very well. We got up at 4:15 that morning to head up the canyon to start the race. So needless to say we didn't get much sleep.
The race was beautiful. It started up in the canyon so it was great scenery and the air was cool and brisk. It got hot towards the end of the race but it wasn't horrible.
I have to say that it was really intense, but I am so glad that I did it. There were times that I felt awesome during the race, and times that I felt totally miserable (like the last 6 miles), but I really surprised myself and finished in 4 hours and 18 minutes. I was just hoping to finish within 5 hours! I think the only thing that kept me running at the end was that I wanted it to be done!
I don't know if I will ever do another marathon, but I will say it was such a great experience to be able to train and spend so much time with my sister-in-laws. They did awesome as well. Jenny finished just a little bit behind me at like 4 hours and 23 minutes and then September finished in 4 hours and 45 minutes (with the flu to top it off!). All of our times might be a little bit faster than that though cause that was just our race time (not our actual running time) so we are just waiting for them to post the results. It won't be a huge difference...maybe only a couple minutes...but hey every minute counts right?!
Anyways I am so glad that September convinced me to do it...I never thought I could. Now I am just wondering how long it will take me to recover. I seriously can hardly walk!

We saw this sign on Friday night while we were trying to find somewhere to eat and had to stop and get some pics with it!

Here is a shot of me running...this was at mile 21. I was dying and this was the first time I saw Jared on the sidelines. I was so excited to see a familiar face that I just pointed at him with a huge smile on my face.

Here I am right after I finished the race...I wanted to sit down so bad, but I could barely move my legs they were already so sore.

Here is a shot of some of the other girls from Boise that ran with us....we are missing a few others in this group.

And of course me and my awesome sistas!! I love these girls!

I'm totally impressed, and inspired. Hmm, maybe a good goal for next year to lose my baby weight? Except that I'm already nervous just thinking it! You're awesome.
