The Story.

So this is really more for me than any body else so feel free to skip right over this post if you like.
We got up bright and early on Friday morning and headed to the hospital. I was pretty tired cause I didn't get much sleep Thursday night. I had been having contractions all night long. When I got there they got everything ready and set up. They started an IV and hooked me up to the monitor. I was still having pretty regular contractions, but they thought they would start me up on some pitocin to move things along a little quicker. They only set it to 2 but the contractions were coming one right on top of the other so they decided to turn it off. I continued to have contractions and labor on my own the rest of the time. I was having contractions every one to three minutes but I was doing ok because my water hadn't broke yet. Then the doctor came in and checked me and broke me water. That was when all hell broke loose. I was dying...at least I thought. I was in so much pain and couldn't stand to be sitting in my bed. I needed to get up and move or do something. So my nurse (who was amazing by the way) got me up out of bed onto the exercise ball to see if that would help while I waited to get my epidural. I labored for a while....I wanted to punch someone or cuss really bad, but I think I kept myself under control pretty darn good. The lady finally came to give me my epidural and just when I thought things would get better they got worse. She stuck me 6 times!!! I was in horrible labor and she was telling me I needed to hold still and that I had the boniest back she had ever seen and just couldn't get it in the right spot. I have never had a problem with placing my epidural before. In the past it was one try, no flinching or jerking (on my part), and it was in. I don't know what the problem was, but I was doing my best to hold still....she just couldn't get it done. It was horrible. Once she finally got it in I started to get some relief but of course they were concerned with my blood pressure because it dropped to 80/50 and they just couldn't get it back up. With my blood pressure so low I got really nauseous and shaky so they laid me down and tried to get it all under control. It was like that for a while, but it finally all balanced out. Sigh....some peace. I finally had a little bit of relief and tried to relax for a while. After about 2 hours of pure comfort my nurse came in and checked me and I was only a 6. After she checked me something went wacky with my epidural and I started to feel EVERYTHING in my abdomen and pelvis, but my feet were still totally numb. I started to feel so much pain and pressure that I was crazy again. I told Jared to get my nurse and have her check me again or figure out what was going on cause I was just in so much pain. It took him a while to get her back in there, but when she finally did I was to an 8 1/2 and feeling everything. She had no explanation. She said because I am so petite that when I was sitting up my epidural was running straight down into my legs and past my belly cause really the problem started when they finally got me back upright. She tried to move me and lay me down again, but nothing was helping. I wanted to push or something. I was dying. She called to have them come check the epidural again, but by the time they got there I told her to check me again cause I just really wanted to push. She checked me and sure enough in the few minutes she had been there I had progressed to a 10. FINALLY. She got my doctor in there quickly and I started to push. I only pushed for maybe 10 minutes at the most and Kaias was born. What a relief. It is so amazing how quickly you can go from being in the worst pain of your life to almost not feeling a thing once you are pushing and the baby is there. Amazing.
I am so glad it is all over and our little man is here. I have to say this 3rd time around has been rough. I feel (felt) so sore and tired and really worked over. After Tayden I felt great, but this time around has been pretty tough. I don't know if it's cause it's my 3rd or cause my labor was longer, or cause I am older, but whatever the case (I am sure a combination) I feel like I am moving just a little slower than last time. I am sure here soon though I will be feeling a whole lot better. Now I just need to work on getting Kaias to realize that we sleep during the hours of 3 am to 6 am. He seems to be a little confused. :)

Wow, sheesh. That was basically a natural birth with some extra needle in the back pricks just for the fun of it! That boy better appreciate you for the rest of his life for all of the amazing laboring you did for him!

6 times!! Freak! I would be so pissed off. Sounds like that anethes. person didn't know what they were doing. Obviously, it didn't even last. So glad you made it through. I admit, my third was WAY harder than the second. Whats up with that? Congrats Myca!

Okay I'm not gonna lie, you got me a little nervous for my upcoming labor/epidural! I've never done it this way before, since I had a c-section with the twins! Hearing the birth story is always my favorite part though. You were superwoman. I'm SO SO HAPPY FOR YOU and happy that labor is over and everyone is safe and well. I love you- and happy birthday to you too! (Don't you feel like you should be giving your mom a present on your birthday, after everything that just happened with Kaias? haha)
