Morning sickness?

Ok I am not writing this to complain to everyone out there in the blogging world. I am actually writing this just to note how I am feeling during this pregnancy and how it has been different from my last two. Or maybe just to see if anyone can offer me some advice. For the past week (maybe two) I have been feeling horribly nauseous. It is killing me. It's not just in the morning either. It seems to come and go all day and seems to be worse if I don't eat before I actually get hungry, or if I eat the wrong things, or if I eat too much. I think it is by far the worst when I am up through the middle of the night for work. I find myself carrying a barf bag around in my scrubs or in the bathroom between each patient just waiting to throw up in hopes that I will find relieve for even a moment. It is killing me. On top of the constant stomach ache I am exhausted all the time. Even when I get great sleep I still want more. I am sure this is all a combination of being so early in my pregnancy and working these crazy hours. Does anybody have some kind of remedy or pregnancy morning sickness secret that I missed out on? I hope this gets better....

Sweet Myca- first of all, you can complain all you want. We don't blame you one bit and it's your blog and HELLO- you are pregnant.

As far as rememdies, I was kind of the same way. Nothing ever sounded good to eat but when I didn't eat I'd just get more nauseous. But you need to eat something every 2 hours or so- for me the things that worked best were toast or teddy grahams or something mild like that. But the most important one that helped me were saltine crackers. My mom tried to get me to eat them but I don't even like saltine crackers to begin with! But once I tried them they really made me feel a lot better. So that's my 2 cents. Saltine crackers.

I'm so sorry you aren't feeling well. And night shifts sound like the WORST. love you.

I was this way with my daughter (not my son) and I just lived on Ginger Ale and biscuits. It seemed that was the only combo that I held down ok. I worked up through 36 weeks and still don't know how I did it...it could mean you are having a girl ;)
I would just run it by your OB and maybe they can give you something to calm your tummy. Are you taking your vitamins? I had to get the really gentle ones so I could take them and not get totally sick...they seemed to help when I wasn't eating anything. Hang in there!

Yeah, I think you are having a girl. I was totally sick for my girls, and not Carson. Hang in there!

half a sleeping pill, it works! i was so sick with spencer all day for 18 weeks and the doctor finally had me try that and it took away the constant sick feeling. it didnt make me tired or save me from a wrong smell puting me over the edge but it did make the day tollerable. good luck and hope it passes quickly!

this last pregnancy i was sick all 9 months, the only thing that seemed to have some sort of affect was a ginger pill, a B6 vitamin, and a unisom. But I had to do all three of them together or it didn't seem to do it's job as well. I think the ginger was the key ingredient! good luck and hang in there. i hope it is just a first trimester thing.

Hmmm...Zofran. I hate to say it, but that is the one and only thing that got my barfing under control. They tried all the vitamin B, and yada yada. Then onto other perscriptions, but the only thing that got it in check was the zofran. Mine was always worse later at night too. I hope it is a girl...bet it is!

ZOFRAN all the way!!! That's the only thing that helped me with my two daughters pregnancies! I wasn't that sick with my son. I bet you are having a girl!!! :)

Oh Mycah..I feel your pain. All those things describe Morning Sickness to a "T". On top of that..working those hours??? Ughh. My only suggestion, which may sound like a crappy one, Pray really hard that Jared gets his "dream job" quick. :) I can't imagion doing what you are doing. My last pregnancy...all those things, being up at night would have given me a nervous break down! Love ya girl, hang in there.

Oh one more thing..I quit taking the prenatals. Holy Heaven! That helped a TON! Just take plain Folic Acid. Also with the Saltines...I'm with Samantha on that one. Gross, but a surprisingly helpful.

Okay so you totally have to be having a girl! That is exactly how I felt! With my boys I would just throw up and feel good, but the whole being nauseas thing ALL the time I think is worse then just throwing up! I lived off of saltines and mac n cheese! I tried to eat before I got too Hungary, and I would take vitamin B6. Those seemed to help me. I did take zolfran a couple of times, but it never seemed to do anything for me. Good luck and I will say that with my boys, my morning sickness lasted 4 months but this time around I was only sick for about a month. Hopefully it goes them same for you because it was so hard! I think having two little busy boys didn't make it any easier on me, but I can't imagine working nights on top of that! Good luck, and hopefully you find something that works for you!

Ginger Ale (I heard once that ginger is supposed to help with nausea). Zofran (and I only needed half a pill, which is good cause they are expensive). And time (I started feeling better around 17 weeks). Good luck!

I didn't read what other people wrote, but vit. b, and fenugreek. I never took fenugreek for nausea (only to increase breast milk), but I hear it works great for nausea in pregnancy. It's an herb, found in the vitamin section.

I'm sorry you are getting so sick, maybe that means since it's differnt that your having a girl? Anyway, I had to be feed through an IV the whole 9 months with both my boys so I can sympathize. Talk to your OB they have stuff that is safe to take and will help plus if you are really sick you need to make sure you are not dehydrating. Ginger Ale is good, eating every 2 hours helps if you can stand it. Try regular potato chips instead of saltines (they have more "nutrients" if you can believe that!) Maybe chicken broth and beef broth. Basically if you think you can put it in your month eat it, but really try to stay hydrated. Lemonade helped me a bit. I hope this passes for you soon. Although they tell me if you are really sick, your hormones are really on a roll and that means things are going well with the pregnancy (not much consilation when your hanging your head over the toliet I know ;-)

I tried it all, nothing worked until I took Promethizine....it is very small and it helps to take it with sprit since the carbonation makes it float. Good luck

Myca I thought of something else. Everyone on here keeps saying stop taking the prenatals. When i was pregnant with the twins the prenatals were making me SO sick but I still wanted the nutrients. So I started taking Gummyvites from costco. They are vitamin pills for kids and they were gummy bears. Kyle always tried to steal them. haha. Anyway, they made me feel better.
