Baby Update.

A few weeks ago my doctor told me that the hospital had changed their policy on inductions. The new rules are as follows:
1. The earliest you can be induced is a week before your due date (this has always been policy)
2. You can't set your induction day until you are at least 38 weeks...so you can set it a week before the actual day. They used to let you set it weeks before so that you could just plan on going in a week before your due date to be induced.
3. You have to be dilating on your own prior to setting the induction....and not just like a 2 or a 3...you have to be at least a 3 or a 4!
So I had my appointment today and it went just as I expected it to. My blood pressure hadn't risen and everything with the baby looked great. He is still head down. And I was not dilated any more than my last appointment. Which means no date has been set. So my doctor said I will come in for my next appointment and she will strip my membranes really good and hope that it gets things going. If not she can't even schedule an induction for my due date....and told me that they would let me go up to a WEEK OVER if I still am not at least a 3 or 4.
So looks like I still have a ways to go...I know this because I didn't dilate AT ALL with Tayden. I did everything possible (aside from drinking castor oil) and had my membranes stripped 3 times!! It did nothing for me! I don't know why I am so bummed cause I totally expected this to happen but it is just so hard when you reach the point where you are pretty much miserable. Huge, uncomfortable, can't sleep, and still working graveyards!! I am going to try and keep a smile on my face and hope that maybe this time will be different and I will start to progress on my own...here's to wishful thinking.

All I can say is try sitting/bouncing on exercise balls and start taking primrose oil. You can find it with the vitamins at any grocery store. Good luck!

That is kind of cool about the hospital! I know way too many people who have had to have emergency c-sections because they induced before the baby was ready.

But on your side, I am sending all of my good wishes that that boy of yours is ready to make a prompt appearance. You know they say nothing starts labor like having a little fun in the bedroom :) Am I allowed to say that on a blog?

So sorry Myca! I am the same way but I usually dilate to a 3 or 4....I wish my body would just do what it is supposed to. Luckily since Connor was 10 pounds my dr is inducing me on Monday...6 days before my due date. Good luck! I'll be thinking about ya!

I had really rough pregnancies. By 37 weeks my body was done. Since my babies were ready the doctors said they would let me have them. My ob last time gave me a tip (I think he just felt sorry for me). One way to get things going is dehydration. If you dehydrate yourself it's supposed to help start things up. Good luck!
